Two projects give AI agents new ways to inspect software and create 3D designs. REA 4.1.0 adds static inspection options for Android apps and firmware; Text-to-CAD 0.7.15 repairs an STL export defect in one teacup model.
REA adds inspection for APKs, firmware and Windows executables
REA is a local Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, a bridge an AI agent can use to call software-analysis tools. Its Oct. 6 release adds Android application package (APK) inspection through headless JADX, firmware analysis with Binwalk and Unblob, and experimental read-only Ghidra analysis of native x86-64 Windows executables on local NTFS drives.
APK inspection needs Java and a user-supplied JADX JAR; firmware analysis needs user-supplied Binwalk and Unblob on Linux. REA says its analysis runs locally, while any connected model provider has its own data policy. Static analysis inspects files without running them, so it does not show runtime behavior.
Text-to-CAD fixes one teacup export
Text-to-CAD plugin and skills give an AI agent local computer-aided design (CAD) workflows. Its documented outputs include 3D model files in STEP, GLB, STL and 3MF formats, engineering drawings and design-for-manufacturing checks.
Version 0.7.15 repairs the STL export for one teacup model. The linked pull request says the earlier mesh had holes, duplicate triangles and non-manifold edges. In tests at default and fine tolerances, the fixed example had no duplicate triangles, boundary edges or non-manifold edges. Those tests cover one teacup model; they do not establish general model accuracy or print readiness.
The README says CAD runs through uv; its first startup downloads the runtime and needs a network connection. On Windows 11, Smart App Control can block the unsigned OpenCascade module when enabled; the README says it is on by default on a fresh install and documents Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) as an alternative. Both repositories list MIT licenses, while third-party tools and model providers have their own terms.

Correction (Oct. 7, 2026): The earlier version linked to a non-resolving Text-to-CAD commit address and listed Node.js and Python requirements that the reviewed README does not specify. The links and setup details are corrected; the mesh result is limited to the reported teacup tests.
